Stellenbosch Vlakte on Foot

This circular walking tour starts and ends at the Visit Stellenbosch tourism centre in the historical heart of Stellenbosch. Explore the history of Apartheid through the stories of the families that were forcibly removed from the centre of Stellenboch in 1964. This area was previously known as the “Vlakte”, and the tour weaves through the tree lined streets of the charming town to visit the sites of removal and view the establishments that now inhabit these buildings. The walk is not strenuous but comfortable shoes and a hat are essential.
